Options for Transfer Students
We highly recommend all transfer students go through the free online transfer orientation program at http://www.usu.edu/transfer/orientation. This orientation will help you:
- See which classes are required for your major and how your classes will transfer to USU.
- Contact your academic advisor.
- Know how to use the USU registration system.
- Know how and when to pay your tuition and fees.
- Know which policies and procedures apply to students at USU.
- Know how to get your ID card, parking pass, and textbooks.
On-Campus Transfer Orientation (Fall semester only)
Transfer Orientation is an optional half-day program for transfer students who have at least 24 college credits that they earned after high school (not including AP or concurrent enrollment).
Like the SOAR sessions for incoming first-year students, Transfer Orientation focuses on giving you vital information that will make your transition to Utah State easier. Your time will be spent receiving critical information about policies, procedures, and resources specific to Utah State University. Though campus tours will be available for those who are interested, they are completely optional.
We realize that transfer students are typically not looking for a traditional orientation experience. We strive to keep the day concise and relevant.
At the end of the day, members of the University's orientation staff will be on hand to help you register for classes or adjust your classes. Please be aware that if you would like to register for classes on this day, you will need to have spoken with your academic advisor in advance, on your own, to have your advising hold removed and to know which classes to take. Find your advisor's contact information at http://www.usu.edu/advising/advisors/.
If you would like to get your student ID card on this day, please bring $15. We will give you a student handbook/planner. Please note that there will not be a Parent Orientation available at Transfer SOAR.
